Optimized Trend Tracker (OTT) is a trend-following overlay that draws a smoothed support line and a trailing-stop line (OTT) directly on the price chart. When the support line crosses the OTT line, the indicator marks a Buy or Sell, and the area between the lines is shaded green in an uptrend and red in a downtrend.

OTT Algorithm
OTT Algorithm

How it works

  1. Price is smoothed with a moving average of your choice.
  2. A trailing stop follows that average at a fixed percentage distance and only moves in the direction of the trend.
  3. The OTT line is the stop level, shifted two bars back, which filters out short noise.
  4. A cross of the support line over the OTT line (or of price over OTT, if enabled) gives the signal.

What you can configure

  • Source: close by default, any price source.
  • OTT Period (default 2) and OTT Percent (default 1.4): shorter period and smaller percent react faster, larger values give fewer, slower signals.
  • Moving average type: VAR (default), SMA, EMA, WMA, TMA, WWMA, ZLEMA.
  • Signals: support-line crossings (on by default), price/OTT crossings, and OTT color-change signals (both off by default).
  • Show or hide the support line, OTT color change highlighting, and the trend fill.

How to use it

  • Trend direction: price above the OTT line and a green fill means an uptrend, below it and a red fill means a downtrend.
  • Entries and exits: use Buy/Sell markers as trend-change alerts and confirm them with your own rules (structure, volume, higher timeframe).
  • Alerts: create platform alerts on the support and OTT lines to be notified on a cross.
  • Tuning: test OTT Period and Percent per instrument and timeframe. The defaults suit liquid markets on intraday charts; slower assets usually need a larger percent.

About this version Indie port for TakeProfit. The logic follows the original script: moving averages, trailing stop, direction flip, OTT shifted by two bars and the signal rules. Values were compared with the TradingView original on the same candles and matched. Differences from the original: the TSF moving-average option is not included, and the two long/short highlighter fills are merged into one color-switching fill. TradingView alertcondition() is replaced by platform alerts.
