MACD 4C Pro — 4-Color MACD Histogram with Momentum Phase Detection

MACD 4C Pro
MACD 4C Pro

MACD 4C Pro is a refined 4-color MACD histogram for Indie that clearly visualizes momentum phase shifts using a deterministic and noise-controlled logic model.

Unlike the standard MACD that typically shows a line and a signal crossover, this version displays the MACD line itself as a color-coded histogram, allowing traders to instantly see:

  • Whether momentum is positive or negative
  • Whether momentum is strengthening or weakening
  • When the market transitions through the zero line

This makes it especially effective as a trend confirmation and momentum state filter.

What Makes This Version Different

Many traders are confused when MACD histograms differ between platforms.
This indicator removes that ambiguity:

  • It uses the true MACD line, not (MACD − Signal).
  • Colors represent both polarity and slope.
  • Zero-line crossovers are clearly marked.
  • A symmetric noise filter prevents false micro color flips.

The logic is deterministic and NaN-safe, meaning no random first-bar artifacts or inconsistent slope comparisons.

4-Color Momentum Logic

Each bar reflects both direction and acceleration:

  • Lime → Positive and rising (bullish momentum strengthening)
  • Green → Positive but falling (bullish momentum weakening)
  • Maroon → Negative and falling (bearish momentum strengthening)
  • Red → Negative but rising (bearish momentum weakening)

This transforms MACD into a clear momentum phase visualization tool rather than a simple crossover oscillator.

Key Features

  • 4-state color logic (polarity + slope)
  • Zero line reference
  • Optional Signal Line
  • Optional Zero-Cross markers (U/D labels)
  • Symmetric Noise Filter (abs MACD threshold)
  • Clean deterministic behavior
  • Indie-native implementation using Macd.new

Parameters

  • Fast EMA (default 12)
  • Slow EMA (default 26)
  • Signal Length (default 9)
  • Noise Filter (abs MACD) — filters small fluctuations
  • Toggle: Show Signal Line
  • Toggle: Show Zero Cross Markers

Best Use Cases

  • Trend-following systems
  • Breakout confirmation
  • Higher-timeframe momentum bias
  • Exit timing refinement
  • Psychological momentum phase reading

Works on all timeframes.
Lower timeframes may benefit from a small noise threshold.

Who This Is For

  • Traders who prefer histogram-style MACD
  • Momentum traders
  • Price action traders using phase confirmation
  • System builders needing a clean momentum state visualizer

This is not a predictive or zero-lag MACD.
It is a clean momentum state indicator designed for clarity and structural consistency.
